Decoration: 8 great ways to expose your ceiling - It is always an appealing idea and tidy drywall on your ceilings and hiding the integrity of the roof space, but I pay tribute to those who boldly lay bare ceilings for all to see. This idea of exhibition design is not without challenges - lighting, for example, can be difficult to integrate - but these striking rooms demonstrate why it might be worth trying, and also exhibit elegant solutions exposed ceiling that might work for your space.

Create contrast
If you find yourself beamed in as good a condition as these, it would be an absolute crime to paint on them. I love the painted ceiling, which really makes the beams the star of the show.
If you are not a fan of projectors mounted on the surface, and then a big drop pendant down the field is a great solution to steal this space, and one you can certainly go out with a bedroom.

Take a soft approach
If you want a softer feel in a room with exposed ceiling and painting of the interior structure roof is a good compromise that maintains the integrity of the building. I like to use drywall between horizontal wooden failures to give a super smooth finish. If you want something with a feeling, tongue and groove wood coating more coastal between the purlins would rather add the layer just that extra detail.

skip to natural
When you have beautiful oak trusses and purlins - respectively, the frames and the horizontal roof supports that you can see here - it seems a shame not to have them on the display. However, there is a very strong look and you really need a good height, or it could visually lower the ceiling and feel rather oppressive.
There used to be on the tendency to stain beams like these in black, but now you'll usually find a lot of effort goes into raising the wood finish to its natural tone . Oxalic acid - found naturally in many plants, including rhubarb -. is used in some cases to bleach wood

Kiss industrial details
I love this space. Converting a workshop in a kitchen-dining room will always result in a serious industrial look. The corrugated roof made a really interesting design feature - one that would have the most special air if the ceiling was plastered.
Airy, industrial buildings are not for everyone, but when you choose to have a space like this house, you have to work with what you have.

Brave bare room suite boards
It is difficult to find examples of exposed ceiling in a bathroom. Very often, we prefer to bring the height of the ceiling right down, so that the room is warm and inviting, and provides the best platform for a lot of practical lighting and moody.
Personally, however, I prefer my bathroom to feel like another living space, one where you want to stay a while - and I see myself continuing here. The ceiling leads to the bedroom and I really like the colored dark beams juxtaposed with the following milled planks above.

Choose fresh concrete
I'm a big fan of concrete and love what it looks like here on the ceilings and pillars. It also heats up this white kitchen area, very utilitarian.
The polished concrete, however, can be expensive. You need a specialist to apply, and it costs anything from about £ 110 per square meter. But it is really convenient and you can always paint over it if the trend - pass. After obtaining professional advice from your paint supplier about a suitable product

Introduce the support act
visible supports do not always go through the ceiling: here, they come from the ground, but are just as much a feature beams.
In very high rooms, we often end up with a space mezzanine above, and it is still a working puzzle how this gel with the lower floor. Here is an elegant solution: I love these great pillars that take the weight of the ceiling - they seem so important and really are the backbone of the room.
is good, too, to see a ceiling that is painted and not just full of ceiling. There is nothing worse than creating a "landing strip" when you've worked so hard for such a super-stylish finish.

love low ceiling
This is an excellent example of how the exhibition of woodworking can really bring the ceiling down and make it look a long and low room. I must say, however, in this situation, it goes against my principles of trying to lift a cap and done, a very comfortable private space. I like the way the lighting is nice and allows beams to do all the work.
With such a strong stretch ceiling, you need to use a system contrasting below to balance the look and push the backup space. The wood bleached fresh work wonderfully with the dark beams stained, and this juxtaposition is the secret to make it habitable.
