House of the week: The functionality meeting the personality in a small space - When Shivaa Sharma moved into his small South London flat in July, she needed a professional look to help transform the living cramped in an airy, filled personality room. So she appealed to Bhavin Taylor decorator talents to help realize the full potential of the small space. "When I met Shivaa, the main thing I noticed was its dynamism, said Bhavin. "She was not a person who would be afraid of color or walk outside the box."
Two of the major constraints facing Bhavin the living room is the space and the budget, so storage and multifunctionality were essential. pieces chosen with care, smart zoning and a touch of color means that it now functions as a space of relaxation for friends, a second bedroom for guests, a dining room, and an area in which to relax before Shivaa television.

Red was a color Shivaa said she loved, "says Bhavin," so my starting point was the couch. - which was the basis of conception "He was looking for one that was not too big for the room but spacious enough for customers, and could be converted into a bed if necessary, and he found the perfect model of John Lewis.
apartment is very bright, so Bhavin has chosen to put the emphasis on light with bright white walls, which form a blank canvas for bold furniture. He also created a large mirror surface on the end wall by hanging two framed mirrors side by side. "By using two mirrors visually doubles the space and reflects the light," he explains
The couch is not the only element in the multipurpose room :. Orange and red coffee tables are part of a nest, and slide under the table gray side in the corner to create space for the sofa bed to open outside. The ottomans can also be easily moved to provide additional seating at the dining table. "I wanted the space to have this additional flexibility, said Bhavin.

The cushion with design in orange feathers, turquoise and red, who had by Doris Karen Miller was one of the first items purchased, and gave Bhavin accent colors in the room. "The sofa is quite fatty, so it was hard to decide what colors would work with her. This cushion kind of opened the flood gates, he said, laughing. Key three colors can be seen in everything from cushions and lamps art and glassware.

unlike the dynamic living area, dining room is a quiet, minimal space. "I wanted to keep the next room quite simple, says Bhavin. He chose a white table and chairs, with a discreet white awning window. But he linked the two areas with bright red buffet made from two units Ikea PS. "They fit so well that they look like they were built for space, said Bhavin, 'and they provide a good amount of storage, which was so important in this apartment.
He also created visual interest - and framed the dining area -. with two black, white and red lights, using the room color scheme in a "very subtle, but adds quite an impact"

like the red buffet, the TV console could have been made for the room. Although Bhavin admits that " trying to do all this in the budget was quite a struggle," his design shows that "even with a small budget, you can have a beautiful design, simply with that being smart '. floating shelves add interest at eye level without dominating the space and, teamed with the unit below, give the media area a customized feel.
