Foodie inspiration
coconut chair was not only the design of Nelson seats inspired by the food: it came with the Marshmallow sofa the following year, after all . Nelson believed in the value of a wide range of influences on the design, while still keeping its impact on individuals and society at the forefront. Instead of specialized designers, he thought he should cultivate a broad base of knowledge and understanding. 'Total Design is nothing less than a process of everything about everything, he said.

George Nelson compared his chair to a coconut cut into eight sections, but he reversed colors. The outer shell is white, like the interior flesh of a coconut, while the piece of foam rubber cushion is darker. It comes upholstered in leather or fabric, and is available in a variety of colors. The third area, which form the record is slightly longer than the two side ends to create a cocooning effect comfortable.
